Mediatec Open Day: A Giant Success!

On the 12th and 13th May 2010, over 100 people from the audio visual, sporting and corporate world joined the Mediatec UK team at their Open Day in London. 

After securing contracts with Panasonic and the England and Wales Cricket Board to name but a few, Mediatec UK has made significant investment in the latest LED technology, allowing the company to demonstrate the Panasonic Astrovision 12F true 12mm pixel pitch product, with its high contrast SMD and high definition processing. The semi transparent and lightweight Spider F30, suitable for indoor and outdoor use and the Flyer 12, an SMD high resolution, high contrast, lightweight screen that is quick to construct. 

The Panasonic 12F was utilised at the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver and is currently being used throughout the 2010 Cricket Season for all International and Domestic games. 

Another addition to Mediatec UK’s extensive fleet were also on site, two sophisticated four camera HD Outside Broadcast vehicles designed and system integrated by MHz Broadcast Systems. The Mercedes Sprinters 315CDi were custom built for the Cricket Season and are available for use at music and corporate events also.

England and Wales Cricket Board

EBC

Events technology supplier Mediatec UK has retained a contract to provide the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) with large outdoor video screens for the next three seasons. In 2010 there will be more than 100 televised matches; including the international series against Bangladesh and Australia v Pakistan.

The equipment provided by Mediatec UK will include a combination of mobile and modular LED Screens along with outside broadcasting, Panasonic 12mm SMD LED’s and two new OB vehicles are also on order.

ECB’s Venue Support Manager, Ben Green, said: “LED screens are an integral part of the cricketing experience for spectators up and down the country. Mediatec boast the expertise, cutting edge technology and reliability to ensure the project runs smoothly.’

Singalong Opera

Everyone who has dreamt of singing an opera were given a chance by Stockholm’s Concert Hall together with Mezzo Soprano Malena Ernman.

The performance was produced by Mediatec and broadcast live in HD with 5.1 surround sound to over 35 cinemas in Folkets Hus and Parkers Digital cinema chain via HD2 and NOR 036. Over 3000 participants across the country sang along with excerpts from operas such as Carmen and The Magic Flute, a new record for a Swedish produced performance.

Mediatec also transmitted the performance to Gustavsberg Infirmary via broadband where 150 people joined in. We were also responsible for trailers and advertising inserts for our customers.

This was the first time a Singalong performance was broadcast in Sweden and it was so successful, the Concert Hall and main sponsor SEB are already planning further events.

Biathlon Antholz

The last Biathlon Worldcup before the Vancouver Olympics took place between the 19th and the 24th of January. Thanks to a three year contract with EBU (European Broadcasting Union) Mediatec group were the broadcasters. An OB truck was provided alongside OB-technicians, camera operators and slowmotion operators.The production was performed by HD 6 with 24 cameras, 5 EVSes and two Supermotions. Mediatec Sweden supplied two Sony remote cameras for the close-ups of the targets.

International Boxing in Denmark

The 30th of January 2010, Aarhus, NRGi Arena: the comeback match of the Danish boxer Mads “Golden Boy” Larsen. It was the European super middleweight title match against the North Irish Brian Magee. The event was broadcasted by the Danish broadcaster “6’eren”, a SBS channel.

Mediatec provided OB Production Unit HD 2 for Video and Audio, SNG Link Unit, TV and Event light as well as the Events PA system. Of special cameras in use, we can mention: Super Motion Camera, Wireless Camera, Mini Jib and High Pan. The transmission was made to life by SBS Editorial staff of 6 people, and Mediatec technical staff of 30 people. It was a 5 hour live production, and Mediatec is proud to be the preferred partner for this event.
