CT Merges Mediatec UK into London Operation

Creative Technology Ltd (CT) is pleased to announce that following the acquisition of the company by NEP in January 2017, the UK division of sister company Mediatec will be merged with and rebranded CT from the 1st April 2017.

Mediatec UK has been providing LED screens and associated production services to a small portfolio of prestige clients across the sporting and corporate event sectors since 2003. The merger with CT will allow the team access to a significantly larger pool of technical and operational resources.

The business will continue to operate from its current premises in Sunbury on Thames during the busy summer period, however it is expected to relocate to CT’s Crawley headquarters during the second half of 2017, allowing the combined business to fully realise the opportunities arising from collective resources.

Dave Crump, CEO of CT Group commented: “CT and Mediatec have enjoyed a close, albeit competitive relationship over many years. Several of the current Mediatec UK contracts started life with us and we have always enjoyed similar operating cultures alongside a healthy exchange of personnel and, occasionally, clients. Bringing the businesses together will provide enhanced opportunities for the majority of the staff and allow us to offer their clients a broader range of technology and services”.

Kenneth Patterson, President of Mediatec Solutions in Sweden added “We have a great team in the UK who have done some excellent work, however they have always been somewhat limited by lack of local inventory and the distance/cost of operating from Sweden. Joining forces with our friends, and now colleagues at CT, is the ideal way to take the business forward and to allow the team to develop. I would like to thank the people at Mediatec UK for all of their commitment over the last 15 years and wish them the very best for the future.”

NEP Group, Inc. have completed the acquisition of Creative Technology’s parent company Avesco.

Based in Pittsburgh, USA, NEP is one of the world’s largest outsourced production partners supporting premier content producers across the broadcast and live events industries.

Alongside Creative Technology (CT), NEP operates four other Live Events businesses focused on Large Screen Display. These comprise Faber AudioVisuals and Mediatec Solutions in Europe along with Screenworks and Sweetwater in the US. All businesses are expected to retain their existing identities.

The senior management teams will remain unchanged with Graham Andrews leading CT’s US and Asia Pacific businesses.

Dave Crump will continue to lead CT’s UK, Spanish and Middle East operations and will in due course take over management of the Mediatec Solutions business in the UK and the Faber AudioVisuals business in the Middle East. CT’s operations in Holland and Germany will fall under the leadership of Cees Faber.

Kevin Rabbitt, CEO of the NEP group commented. “The acquisition of the Avesco Group, and specifically CT, adds significant scale and depth to NEP’s Display Group operations. CT’s geographic and market presence is extremely complementary to NEP’s existing operations and accelerates many of our strategic objectives. CT’s business and leadership team strengthen and significantly broaden our existing business adding additional services including corporate audio and lighting activities in many key locations. Avesco have built an exceptional business over the last 30 years and we look forward to building on that achievement and creating new opportunities for the team at CT.”

New 4 year deal with ECB

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) today announced a new four-year deal with Mediatec to provide improved replay screens across domestic and international cricket.

In a bid to improve the match-day experience, the partnership will deliver upgraded and more environmentally friendly replay screens at all televised matches, new technology for outside broadcast facilities and a greater range of interactive options for fans.

The new deal, which will run from 2016 to 2019 covers all ECB’s Major Matches in this period plus three ICC Global events to be staged in this country: the ICC Women’s World Cup in 2017, the ICC Champions Trophy, also in 2017, and the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2019.

As part of the agreement, the 18 First Class counties and MCC will gain access to packaged highlights to share with their fans at the end of each TV match and fans will also benefit from High Definition upgrades to on-site facilities.

ECB’s Director of Events, Steve Elworthy, said: “It gives me great pleasure to have Mediatec on board for the next four years and we look forward to working closely with the company across our international and domestic programme.

“Putting fans at the heart of the game is one of the ECB’s key priorities. Mediatec have a proven track record in this area and their knowledge and expertise will undoubtedly enhance cricket fans’ match-day experience inside our venues.”

Mediatec started working with the ECB in 2009 and have a wealth of knowledge across the sports industry having previously provided screens at Ascot racecourse and Silverstone.

Kenneth Paterson, Chief Executive Officer of Mediatec, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded the ECB Cricket Replay Screens and Outside Broadcast contract for the next four years.

“Our continued investment in the very latest technologies and equipment will allow the ECB to develop and enhance the spectator experience over the coming seasons. We look forward to four years of successful partnership with the ECB.”
